A gallery wall of words works best when the pieces look like they belong to the same family. That is easier when you design them together, which is exactly what the Canvas Builder lets you do: every piece in a set can share a surface, a lettering depth and a colour palette while the sizes and wording change.
Start with the wall, not the words
Measure the space first, and write the numbers down. Cut sheets of paper to the sizes you are considering, tape them to the wall and live with them for a day. Paper templates show you straight away whether a 76 x 51 cm piece is generous or overwhelming, and they cost nothing to move.
Leave roughly 5 to 8 cm between canvases, and keep the centre of the whole arrangement at around 145 to 150 cm from the floor, which is a comfortable eye level for most people. Treat the group as one large picture, not as separate pieces.
Choose one anchor piece
Every gallery wall needs somewhere for the eye to land. In the Builder, make your anchor the largest canvas, with the boldest words, and set the lettering to bold raised so it catches the light. Then build smaller companions around it with subtle raised lettering. The anchor leads, the others support.
A good starting set is one Large canvas (the 76 x 51 cm to 91.4 x 61 cm range) with two or three Small or Medium pieces beside it. Our gallery shows how this looks: pieces like Relax and Unwind and Welcome to Our Home sit comfortably together because they share a calm, tonal palette.
Keep three things the same
When pieces differ in size and wording, repeat three choices so the wall hangs together:
- Surface. Choose smooth for all, or textured for all. Mixing the two works only when you do it on purpose.
- Colour family. Pick two lettering colours and one or two canvas colours, and stay inside them.
- Alignment. If the anchor is centred, centre the others too. Mixed alignments look accidental.
Vary what is allowed to vary
Sizes and wording are where the interest comes from. Try one long phrase, one single word and one name or date. Portrait, landscape and square shapes can all appear in the same set, and the Builder’s live preview helps you see each one before you commit.
Order the set in one go
When you send your designs, mention in the notes that they belong together, so we know the whole wall is one project. We will be in touch within 24 hours with a quote and timeline. Custom canvases take up to 20 business days from order confirmation and payment, not including delivery, so allow time if the wall is for an occasion.
