Centimetres are hard to picture. This guide translates the sizes in the Canvas Builder into things you already know: a sheet of paper, a pillow, a doorway, a sofa.
Small: about 25 x 20 cm to 36 x 28 cm
The smallest canvases are about the size of a large greetings card up to a framed school photograph. They are ideal for a shelf, a desk, a bedside wall or a gift. They suit a name, a date or a single word. Our ready-made Family Means Everything is a good reference for a compact piece.
A3: 29.7 x 42 cm
Roughly the size of a sheet of A3 paper, tall and narrow. It is just right for a short phrase on a landing or beside a door. Our Can’t Help Falling in Love canvas is this size.
Medium: about 46 x 36 cm to 56 x 46 cm
Medium is the all-rounder. It is wide enough for a short sentence and small enough for a hallway, a kitchen, or the wall above a radiator or console table. Bow Galore and Welcome to Our Home live in this range.
Large: about 76 x 51 cm to 91 x 61 cm
A Large canvas is the width of a generous window pane or a bed headboard. It works above a sofa, a bed or a sideboard, and holds a longer phrase comfortably. Always & Forever at 80 x 60 cm shows how much presence this size has.
Extra Large: 100 cm and up to 150 x 100 cm
This is the statement size. At 150 cm wide, a canvas spans most of a two-seater sofa and commands the wall. Use it where the room has space to let it breathe, and keep the words short and confident.
Square: 30.5 cm up to 100 x 100 cm
Square sizes run from a small block to a bold, wall-sized statement. They suit one-word canvases and names, and sit well in minimal rooms.
Choosing quickly
If you are unsure, hold a sheet of paper against the wall, then imagine it three or four times larger. If your words are long, move up a size. If your room is small, a Medium canvas with a smaller text size often looks better than an Extra Large squeezed into the wall. Custom sizing is available, so tell us your measurements if none of the listed sizes fit.
