How to Choose the Perfect Canvas Size for Your Space

Welcome to Our Home textured raised-lettering canvas

The size you choose changes how a canvas feels more than any other decision. A small canvas reads as an intimate detail, a large one as the main feature of a room. In the Canvas Builder, sizes are grouped so you can narrow the choice quickly, and the live preview shows the proportions as you go.

The size groups in the Builder

We offer sizes from 25 x 20 cm up to 150 x 100 cm, in groups:

  • Small (about 25 x 20 cm to 36 x 28 cm): shelves, desks, bedside walls and gifts.
  • Medium (about 46 x 36 cm to 56 x 46 cm): the all-rounder for hallways, kitchens and above a radiator or console.
  • Large (about 76 x 51 cm to 91 x 61 cm): above a bed, a sideboard or a sofa.
  • Extra Large (100 cm and over, up to 150 x 100 cm): the statement wall.
  • Square (30.5 cm up to 100 cm): good for short words and tight spaces.

There is also an A3-proportioned size, 29.7 x 42 cm, which suits a single line of text in a narrow gap.

Use the two-thirds rule for furniture

Above a sofa, bed or sideboard, a canvas looks best when it is about two-thirds the width of the furniture. For a 200 cm sofa, that points to something around 120 to 150 cm wide, or to a set of two or three smaller pieces. Leave 20 to 25 cm between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the canvas.

Let the words set the size

Text is the other half of the decision. A single word can sit happily on a Small canvas, and gets even better on a Large one where the letters become a feature. A long sentence needs room, because squeezing it makes each letter smaller and harder to read from across the room. If your words run to several lines, move up a size group before you reduce the text size.

Check it on your wall

Cut paper to the width and height you are considering, tape it up and step back. If you are unsure between two sizes, pick the larger, since oversized canvases usually look deliberate and undersized ones look lost.
