The text size slider in the Canvas Builder runs from small to extra large, and it is worth understanding what it actually does. The letters do not get bigger or smaller in isolation. They share a fixed canvas with your other words, so size, line count and canvas size are all linked.
Fewer words, larger letters
On any given canvas, the number of words and lines decides how large the letters can be. One word can fill the canvas edge to edge. A sentence of ten words has to share that space, so each letter is smaller. If you want bigger lettering, the quickest route is fewer words, not a bigger slider.
Canvas size matters just as much
The same text on a larger canvas can be set larger without feeling crowded. If your words are long and the lettering feels too small, move up a size group before you push the slider. The guide to how many words fit on a canvas covers this in detail.
Reading distance decides what looks right
Think about where you will stand when you read the canvas. In a hallway you pass in seconds, big, confident lettering reads at a glance. By a desk or bed, where you look closely, you can use a smaller size and longer text. A canvas viewed across a room needs larger letters than one viewed on a landing.
Leave room around the words
Letters need space around them to look good. As a general guide, keep clear space around the text at least as wide as the height of a line of lettering. If the words touch the edges of the preview, reduce the size a step. Generous margins make a canvas feel expensive.
Match the size to the mood
Larger lettering is bold and declarative. Medium lettering is friendly and balanced. Smaller lettering, with plenty of empty canvas around it, feels quiet and confident. There is no wrong answer, but there is a right one for your room.
A quick method
Set the slider to the middle, and look at the preview. Move up one step at a time until the words begin to feel tight, then step back one. That is almost always the right size. When you send your design, we will check it with you before anything is made.
